Critically acclaimed actress Alison Skilbeck brings her one woman show, Are There More of You?, home to SW London for a performance at Omnibus, Clapham, on Friday 6 November, at 7.30pm. Skilbeck received 4 and 5 star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe for her performance, with Broadwaybaby.com stating 'Skilbeck ultimately leaves you spellbound by her powers of characterisation'.
In her own one-woman comedy drama Alison Skilbeck tells the linked tales of four women reaching out in the dark, revealing what lies behind the brave faces of Claire, Sophia, Sara and Sam. Painful, scary and hilarious by turns, with only a (SW) postcode in common, the stories chart each wildly different character's search for love and happiness. Playwright Alan Ayckbourn described the play as "brilliantly observed, richly comic characters, all played to painful perfection, a wonderful evening'".
Tickets are £12 and £10 concession, available online from omnibus-clapham.org or from the box office, ph: 020 7498 4699.
. "..the script and performance that brings these four women to vivid life are sharply funny, often poignant and always engaging." Oxford Times.
Skilbeck's enormously varied stage career has taken her to the West End and all over the UK, and on tour to the USA and Europe: early on she created roles in no fewer than six Ayckbourn premieres at Scarborough. On radio she was 'Polly Perks' in the Archers until the character's tragic death; while television credits include Soldier, Soldier, Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple, The Beiderbecke Affair, Doctor Who, New Tricks, Law and Order UK, and Midsomer Murders. Her latest film is Florence with Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant (released in 2016). Her latest acclaimed solo show Mrs Roosevelt Flies to London had a four week run at the King's Head this spring and won her an Offie (Off West End) Nomination for Best Female Performer.
