Set on the mean streets of 'One City', 503Fusions takes you from dusk to dawn and back again with four distinct mini plays, combined to form one unique theatrical journey.
The plays - Night by Karis Halsall, Morning by Gemma Rogers, Afternoon by Tommy Sissions, and Night II by Deanna Rodger - fuse storytelling, spoken word, playwriting and performance with live soundscape scores to take the audience on a full-circle exploration of form and narrative. Thematically unconnected, each play approaches a variety of different subjects, from our relationships with technology and nature, to inner city poverty and heartache.
Theatre503 have a history of curating collaborative festivals (such as Labfest - 2012 and Red Like Embers: Contemporary Voices from Brazil - 2014) and 503Fusions will build upon the success of these projects. Featuring live music from the hip hop and soul group, Normanton Street and the experimental electronic talent of Samuel Organ, the critically-acclaimed slam poetry of Rodger and Sissions, and the distinguished writing of Halsall and Rogers, this innovative production rethinks the typical notion of performance art.
Blurring artistic boundaries, 503Fusions is a work of cutting-edge new writing in which playwrights and theatre makers have created something that is boldly original and remarkably forward thinking.
