The selection panel for the awards are: Lyn Gardner (Guardian), Dominic Cavendish (Telegraph), Mark Shenton (Sunday Express & The Stage Blog), Fiona Mountford (Evening Standard), Andrzej Lukowski (Time Out), and Blanche Marvin (London TheatReviews + founder of the awards). The nominees are the Orange Tree Theatre (Sam Walters), Union Theatre (Sasha Regan), Gate Theatre (Christopher Haydon), Ustinov Studio @ Theatre Royal, Bath (Laurence Boswell), Open Court @ Royal Court (Vicky Featherstone) and The Shed@ National Theatre (Ben Power). The consultants are: Michael Billington (Guardian), Susannah Clapp (Observer), Jeremy Kingston (The Times) and Paul Taylor (The Independent).

The panel evaluates the nominees and winner, giving careful thought to the choosing. They receive their cheques, certificates plus the critics' written summaries of their body of work. These awards are vital in furthering the fundraising for the venues and changing the face of theatre.
