Tickets for Tower Theatre's Fall Events On Sale Now

Tower Theatre has revealed initial details for a long-awaited fall concert and event schedule, which includes nationally touring acts as well as the iconic venue's first non-concert public event in the auditorium's fully-renovated space.

Once the last stage of construction is complete, Tower Theatre will host the 2017 Oklahoma Craft Beer Summit on Saturday, August 5. A brewing industry conference with special tastings, demonstrations, and other events planned throughout the day, the Summit is the primary fundraising event for the Craft Brewers Association of Oklahoma, and will feature national industry speakers, local brewers, and Oklahoma legislators. Tickets will be available at an early-bird price of $60 until July 17, and then at $75.

On Friday, August 11, local rapper Jabee will celebrate his birthday with a special concert featuring Boston DJ, producer, and ShowOff record label founder Statik Selektah. General admission tickets are $20 and reserved seating is $25.

Touring together for the first time, Irma Thomas, The Blind Boys of Alabama, and The Preservation Hall Legacy Quintet will play at Tower Theatre on Tuesday, October 17, as they continue their "Heart and Soul Queen of New Orleans" tour. These long-time legends of gospel, jazz, and American roots music will treat audiences to a special evening filled with collaborations and standards. Reserved seating in advance is $50.
Texas born duo Penny & Sparrow will perform on November 8, as they tour in support of their upcoming album, Wendigo. Confronting themes of fear, darkness, and the intersection of daily life and supernatural fable, this will be their most ambitious album and live performance yet. Tickets range from $20 for reserved seating to a $60 VIP package that includes access to a pre-show private acoustic performance and more.

"We're excited about these initial offerings and will add to them in the coming days and weeks," said Chad Whitehead, Talent Buyer for the venue. "We're working hard every day to line up more events and concerts for the Tower that reflect the diversity of Oklahoma City and the Uptown 23rd district."

Tickets for all current events are on sale now at www.towertheatreokc.com or www.ticketfly.com. Each ticket sold for a Tower Theatre event includes a $1 historic preservation fee, dedicated to a fund used to maintain the building and ensure its standing as a historic site.

Opening in 1937, Tower Theatre operated as one of the city's premiere movie houses for almost 40 years. After a downturn in the '70s, it ran kung-fu movies, midnight shows, and Spanish-language films until 1985, then fell briefly into adult films before closing for good. A brief revival as a music venue in 1999 lasted one year. After changing hands a few times, the Tower restoration project was taken up in 2015 by Pivot Project, and completed in 2016.
