Theatre Tulsa's 2010-2011 season, entitled Transitions, will end with Howard Lindsay & Russel Crouse's Life With Father, directed by Billie Sue Thompson, and Lee Hall's The Pitmen Painters, directed by Vern Stefanic.

Life with Father was not, for the members of his family, an undiluted pleasure. Set in 1890s New York, Clarence Day's wonderful comic tales of his father, Clarence 'Clare' Day Senior, portray a rambunctious, short-fused Wall Street broker who demands that everything from his family (and other menials) should be just so. When it isn't, all hell breaks loose and an amusing sight it is too from a safe enough distance. Clare is intolerant and tyrannical in his constant battle to harness the world to his way of thinking. He rages against his wife, his cook, his horse, shopkeepers, servants, and of course, his children and their inability to live up to his impossible standards. Yet, the more he blusters and rails, the more comic a figure he cuts. Clarence Day's Life with Father, originally serialized in the New Yorker, is a timeless classic of American humor.

From the creator of Billy Elliot, The Pitmen Painters tells the true story of a group of English coal miners who begin an art appreciation class. As they begin to grow as artists, their work catches the attention of art collectors and gives the men a greater understanding of their hidden talents. This is an inspiring story of the transformative power of art.

Life with Father will run from Mar. 18th - Mar. 26th, and The Pitmen Painters will perform from May 6th - May 14th. Both shows will play at Liddy Doenges Theatre at The Tulsa Performing Arts, 201 E. 2nd Street, Tulsa.
