Vicki King, long-time Playmaker volunteer has received an OCTA Spotlight award for volunteer activities above and beyond the norm. Ms. King is the first volunteer from The Playmakers to receive this honor.

Ms. King's performing talent began in "The Music Man," The Playmakers first production in 1995. Since then she has appeared on stage in thirty-five Playmaker production. Her artistic talents have been displayed through graphics for promotional materials, and in set designs and decoration for thirty-six productions. Many times she was both on stage and working on the sets and props backstage. Not stopping with set design, she has also made costumes, not only helping to sew but making masks and creating animal costumes as well. That creative thinking has lead to many visuals that left audiences delighted with the variety of characters appearing on the Playmaker stage.

As in the current production, "Seussical, Jr," she can also be found operating the lights or sound. She may also be found at the box office during shows.

She has been one of the theatre teaching artists in The Playmakers' In-school theatre education program since its inception in 2006.

As her nomination letter to OCTA stated, "Vicki King has been an integral part in helping the Grove Playmakers become a valuable asset to the community."
