Musician Paul Benjaman celebrates the release of his latest record, My Bad Side Wants a Good Time, at an all-ages Album Release Party at VFW Post 577, 1109 E. Sixth St., Tulsa, Friday, June 7. Doors open at 7 PM, with music at 8 PM. The evening will feature two sets of live music, as well as some special musical guests. Reserved tables and general admission tickets are available for the event, and vinyl, CDs, shirts, and posters are available for purchase that night.
"I'm really looking forward to this show," says Benjaman. "This album has been a long time coming, and I can't wait to share the new music. It's going to be a good time at the VFW, with a lot of musical friends sharing the stage."
My Bad Side Wants a Good Time is out June 7 on all major streaming platforms worldwide. Physical copies of the album can be purchased at the VFW release event, or through Horton Records.
Some of the tracks on this album, Benjaman's third full-length studio release, were recorded in the historic Church Studio, the former home of Leon Russell's Shelter Records. Among those is Side B, Track One, "Church of Space and Time," an homage to Russell and the classic Tulsa Sound. The album features a line up of outstanding Tulsa musicians, including Jesse Aycock (guitar/lap steel, pedal steel, background vocals), John Fullbright (piano, keys, harmonica), Paddy Ryan (drums, percussion), and Aaron Boehler (bass).
Listen to "Church of Space and Time," featuring backing vocals from Leon Russell's contemporary and "Queen of the Tulsa Sound," Ann Bell, here. Listen to the album's title track here. Find full album credits here.
