Midwestern Theater Troupe presents One Man's As Good As Another May 29 and 30, June 5, 6, 12, and 13 8:00pm, $8
A farcical historical invention in which Pretty Boy Floyd (purportedly) visits a notorious health resort hootch-house for the wealthy elite and the criminally renowned in Hot Springs, Arkansas, 1932.
Two petty con-artists down on their luck think they've finally gotten a break when through a series of mischance they are misidentified as Charles "Pretty Boy" Floyd and his partner in crime George Birdwell. Seeking easy money (and ego gratification) they embrace the confusion and impersonate the outlaws, only to find themselves embroiled in a heap of rivalries, schemes, and investigations as everybody tries to claim a piece of that hottest of public commodities, notorious celebrity. Adding to the trouble is the impending arrival of the real Floyd's estranged wife Ruby, his mistress moll Beulah Baird...and Floyd himself!
'One Man's As Good As Another' examines the legend and phenomenon of Pretty Boy Floyd and the Oklahoma culture that produced him, and also the nature of identity, perception, love, marriage, booze, and wish-fulfillment.
An Oklahoma original from local no-goodnik John Cruncleton!
