Tulsa's Heller Theatre will present Sarah Ruhl's play THE CLEAN HOUSE on March 12, 13, 18, 19, and 20 at 8 PM and on March 21 at 2 PM. The production will be directed by Julie Tattershall.

THE CLEAN HOUSE is a fresh comedy about love, the power of a good joke, and the virtues of a really clean house! Matilde, a Brazilian housekeeper, is keen to stretch her funny bone, but can't muster any elbow grease for her domestic duties. Her employers' house isn't in order, and neither are their personal lives.

THE CLEAN HOUSE won the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize in 2004. It was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2005.

Ruhl is a well-known playwright whose work has been widely produced. Her play EURYDICE was produced off-Broadway at New York's Second Stage Theatre in June-July 2007. Her play DEAD MAN'S CELL PHONE premiered in New York City at Playwrights Horizons in 2008 in a production starring Mary-Louise Parker. In February 2009, her play IN THE NEXT ROOM (OR THE VIBRATOR PLAY) premiered at Berkeley Rep. The play is scheduled to open on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre with previews starting on October 22, 2009 and an official opening in November 2009. This marks Ruhl's Broadway debut.

Heller Theatre is part of the Park and Recreation Department of the City of Tulsa. Heller has been producing contemporary plays since 1981. The same three member staff, Julie Tattershall, Frank Gallagher and Erin Scarberry operates and manages botH Clark Theatre and Heller Theatre.
