Heller Theatre Moves to Henthorne Recreation Center, Announces Season Line-up

Heller Theatre has moved to Henthorne Recreation Center, 4825 S. Quaker! Our 28th Season promises to be the most exciting one yet. We hope you join us for what promises to be a great season!

"Rabbit Hole" by David Lindsay-Abaire
Performances: September 18-19, 24-26 at 8pm, Sept 27 at 2pm
A story of loss and forgiveness told through daily moments as a family moves on after a life-shattering accident. A drama about what comes after tragedy, "Rabbit Hole" captures the awkwardness and pain of a family faced with an unthinkable situation and eventually, their capacity for survival.

"The Exonerated" by Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen
Performances: October 23-24, 29-31 at 8pm, November 1 at 2pm
The true stories of six former Death Row prisoners who were released from prison after their convictions were reversed. This drama examines their false accusations, wrongful convictions, and eventual exoneration.
Audition Date: August 29 at 3:00 pm

"Bricks" by Ron Radice, Winner of the national play contest for 2009
Performances: January 22-23, 28-30 at 8pm, January 31 at 2pm
It's just another evening at home for Patti and Petey, a not-so-happy couple in a not-so-happy country. Everything is as it always has been, until bricks start coming through the window. An absurdist comedy about adjusting to what we don't have the courage to change, "Bricks" receives its world premier production as the winner of Heller's 2008-2009 Original Play Contest.

"The Clean House" by Sarah Ruhl
Performances: March 12-13, 18-20 at 8pm, March 21 at 2pm
A fresh comedy about love, the power of a good joke, and the virtues of a really clean house! Matilde, a Brazilian housekeeper, is keen to stretch her funny bone, but can't muster any elbow grease for her domestic duties. Her employers' house isn't in order, and neither are their personal lives.

"The Good Woman of Setzuan" by Bertolt Brecht, trans. By Eric Bentley
Performances: May 14-15, 20-22 at 8pm, May 23 at 2pm
When three gods come to earth in search of a thoroughly good person, they encounter Shen Teh, a goodhearted but penniless woman of the night, who offers them shelter. Rewarded with enough money to open a tobacco shop, Shen Teh becomes so overwhelmed that she invents a male alter ego, Shui Ta, to deal ruthlessly with the business of living in an evil world.

Clark Youth Theatre 2009-2010 Season

Clark Youth Theatre's 2009-2010 season travels through time and space, telling stories that go back in history and circle the globe. Come and experience: a centuries old love story set in a mythical forest; a classic drama retelling one of the most famous events from America's Colonial past; a musical about the Wild West's greatest heroine; and a delightful fantasy set in ancient China. Throw in our annual Christmas classic and a special weekend of original works and it's another winning season from Clark Youth Theatre.

"As You Like It"
By William Shakespeare
October 9-10, 16-17 at 7:30 pm, Sunday October 11 & 18 at 2:00 pm
Our annual foray into the classics follows Shakespeare's greatest female hero as she fends for herself in the Forest of Arden and teaches some clueless males how to come a-courtin'. A comedy for the whole family!

"The Crucible"

November 13-14 and 19-21 at 8:00 pm, November 15 at 2:00 pm at the Tulsa PAC
This American classic is based on actual events in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts, when over 150 people were accused of witchcraft. A partnership between Clark and Theatre Tulsa, to be performed at the Tulsa PAC.
Audition date: September 19 at 3:00 pm. at Clark.

"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever"

December 4-5 & 9-12 at 7:30 pm, December 6 & 13 at 2 pm
The Herdmans never go to church. So how did they end up with the lead roles in the Christmas play? Terror, intimidation and maybe a little Christmas magic help bring the Herdmans, as well as the rest of the town, to a new understanding of the holiday season in this Clark Theatre Christmas tradition.

"Annie Get Your Gun"
by Irving Berlin, book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields
February 19-20 & 25-27 at 7:30 pm, February 21 & 28 at 2:00 pm
Annie Oakley was one of the first American women to make it in a man's world. Her story was turned into a wonderful musical that includes such classic songs as "No Business Like Show Business," "I've Got the Sun in the Morning and the Moon at Night" and "Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better."
Audition date: November 14 at 3:00 pm

"The Emergence Project"
April 8-10 at 7:30 pm, April 11 at 2:00 pm
A chance for teen writers and directors to get into the act! This will showcase up to four original scripts from teen writers. These will in turn be directed by student directors, and performed at Clark Theatre. More information soon on this exciting project.
Audition date: Feb 20 at 3:00 pm

"Land of the Dragon"

April 23-24, April 30 & May 1 at 7:30 pm, April 25 and May 2 at 2:00 pm
Set in a mythical version of ancient China, this is a fantasy of pure princesses, helpful minstrels, evil step-aunts, and of course, dragons. "Land of the Dragon" offers our younger actors their chance to shine onstage.
Audition date: March 6 at 3:00 pm

Clark Teen Laughing Matter
Oct. 3, Dec. 19. 2010 Performances: Feb 6, April 17
All shows start at 7:30 pm
Clark's own comedy improvisation troupe enters its 5th year of hilarity. If you like "Who's Line Is It Anyway" you'll love Tulsa's teen version.

Youths 18 and younger are invited to audition for any show at Clark Theatre (14 and younger for "Land of the Dragon"). All shows are family-friendly and fun for all ages. For more information or reservations to any show call 669-6455. Call early for reservations as most shows sell out.
