Tall Poppy Productions proudly presents the world premiere of The Bee’s Knees, a play written and directed by Judy Reynolds, running from November 15 to 24, 2024, at the Theatre Centre in Toronto. Set in the early 1920s, the play follows two sisters navigating the challenges of politics during the first time women in Canada could run for parliament. As the U.S. faces a contentious election cycle in 2024, The Bee’s Knees highlights the timeless struggles women face in leadership, drawing parallels between the political climates of the 1920s and today.
The story centers on Bernie, a rebellious flapper, and her cautious sister Dolores, who runs for office against a corrupt incumbent. Together, they battle smear campaigns, societal norms, and family drama while fighting for political change. Featuring original jazz-inspired music, the play invites audiences to reflect on the persistent challenges of equality and representation.
Performances run from November 15 to 24, 2024, with tickets available online at www.thebeeskneesplay.com.
