Odyssey The Musical tells the epic by Homer, an intense story of nostos (homecoming), kleos (honour) and dunamis (strength). It follows the journey of one man, Odysseus, and his terrible struggle to maintain his own life and that of his men on his way back from Troy as well as the trouble that builds in his kingdom, Ithaca, in his absence.
Music and lyrics by Khamsina, one of Victoria College's students, the show is a work massive in its scope, combining the classic and beloved story with contemporary ethereal music, dance, powerful choral work, and sumptuous, classic aesthetics. The music perfectly matches the nobility and weight of the story, yet adds a compelling modernity with its eastern roots and electronic influences.
The musical is presented by Victoria College Drama Society and directed by Tom Osborne and runs from March 7-9th 8pm. Tickets can be purchase on the door or from the UofTTix box office phone (416) 978-8849 (http://uofttix.ca/view.php?id=964) and more information can be found on the website www.odysseythemusical.co.uk
