Soprano Hibla Gerzmava, star of the Metropolitan Opera, La Scala, Covent Garden and other major halls, makes her Toronto recital debut, in a program of deeply affecting Russian romances. French art songs, and heart-stopping arias from Anna Bolena, La forza del destino and Norma, with pianist Ekaterina Ganelina. Ms. Gerzmava stunned critics and her audience in her first Toronto appearance, in 2017 with Vladimir Spivakov and the Moscow Virtuosi. Her appearance, in the Show One series Classical Stars at Koerner, is her only Canadian stop on a tour that takes her to major halls in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Paris, and London, amongst other cities. She comes to Toronto directly after performing at Carnegie Hall. She returns to New York next spring to sing the role of Liu in the Met Opera's Turandot.
Ages: Adults (and younger audiences who can sit through a concert)
