The classic feminist expressionist play from 1928 returns to Toronto. A Young Woman is pressured into marrying her older boss, starting a family with him and playing the perfect family. But underneath, she’s suffocating. By chance, she meets a man on the run and her world is flipped upside down. How far will she go to protect her autonomy? Directed by Michelle Soicher, featuring production design by Carlyn Rahaussar-Routledge.
This show deals heavily with oppression, sexism, patriarchy, mental manipulation and racism. As well, there is discussions around murder and violence. It features persistent drones and unexpected sounds throughout. Please consider this when choosing to attend the show.
