Young Centre's Waves Festival Returns, Artist Ensemble Announced

Albert Schultz, General Director of the Young Centre for the Performing Arts, today announced the artist ensemble for the Waves Festival, produced in association with Luminato.

The Waves Festival, programmed by the Young Centre's 12 Resident Artists, transforms the award winning venue into an artistic treasure hunt featuring a vast array of new, original 15 minute works ranging from theatre, dance and music to innovative mixed media work and installations. The Waves Festival offers something for all ages and interests, free of charge.

Young Centre's 12 Resident Artists are: Waleed Abdulhamid, David Buchbinder, Roberto Campanella, Andrew Craig, Weyni Mengesha, John Millard, Claudia Moore, Andrea Nann, Patricia O'Callaghan, Soheil Parsa, Noah Richler and Suba Sankaran - leaders in music, dance, theatre and literature.

All 12 Resident Artists will collaborate with a large ensemble of over 100 Toronto artists from all disciplines. This year's Waves Festival ensemble includes theatre artists Rebecca Northan, Erin Shields, Adam Lazarus, fu-Gen Asian Canadian Theatre and b-current, contemporary dancers Brendan Wyatt, Anisa Tejpar, tap dancers Shawn Byfield and David Cox, beatboy Libydo, rapper aka Subliminal, MC's Motion and Gemini, blues guitarist Nilan Perera, violinist Miranda Mulholland, poet Dennis Lee, writer Michael Winter and many more!

The Waves Festival is produced in association with Luminato and runs Friday, June 18 (7 - 10 PM), Saturday, June 19 (2 - 10 PM), and Sunday, June 20 (2 - 6 PM) at the Young Centre for the Performing Arts. Admission is FREE.
