Update: Flashdance is confirmed for the Mirvish season in May, but not part of the subcription series. For more infromation, click here. We're still on the lookout for that super secret Mystery Musical!

Will Flashdance be the Mirvish Mystery Musical playing Toronto in December/January 2013? The show, which has three Canadians on it's creative team was announced to play Toronto in 2012, but that fell through. The production was also scheduled to open on Broadway in the 2013-2014 season, but that too has been postponed.

Yesterday, Mirvish Productions updated their Youtube channel to feature the Montage from the National Tour production, currently booked in American cities through early May.

Flashdance, a musical based on a film of the same name, had it's world premier in 2008 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth, followed by a United Kingdom tour through May 2009 and a 16-week London West End run at the Shaftesbury Theatre through January 2011.

Set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the show revolves around 18 year old Alex, a welder by day and dancer by night, and her dreams of attending the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy

The show features Music by Robbie Roth, Lyrics by Robbie Roth & Robert Cary, and a book by Tom Hadley & Robert Cary. The show is directed and choreographed by Toronto native Sergio Trujillo, who is also the director of Arrabal - which is playing at Toronto's Panasonic Theatre.

Could this be the previously announced Mystery musical? While I don't know for sure, it may be a safe bet. BroadwayWorld will make an announcement when we can confirm what the Mystery show is.
