In celebration of 100 consecutive productions in 20 Seasons, Wavestage Theatre Company will present FOLLIES at Newmarket Theatre this month for a limited engagement. In FOLLIES the time is 1971, and theatrical impresario Dimitri Weissmann hosts a reunion of ex-Follies performers in his crumbling theatre, setting the stage for a parade of brilliant pastiche numbers, including "Losing My Mind," "I'm Still Here," and "Broadway Baby." Amid the reminiscing, two middle-aged couples confront some unpleasant truths about their past and present and come face to face with the future. FOLLIES is surreal, sophisticated, compelling, heart-wrenching and epic in scope.

Winner of seven Tony awards, including "Best Score" for Sondheim, and the Drama Critics Circle Award for "Best Musical," Follies opened at the Winter Garden Theatre on April 4, 1971, and ran for 522 performances.

Wavestage's FOLLIES will star James Woods as Benjamin Stone and Sarah Langford as Sally Durant Plummer. Sarah has performed in leading operatic roles across Europe and in North America and was last seen on stage as Marmee in Wavestage's production of Little Women. Robert Lachance and Greg Landry will both star as Buddy Plummer. Opera veteran Shelagh Tyreman will portray Phyllis Rogers Stone. Toronto's Louisa Burgess Corbett will take the stage as Carlotta.

The cast will also feature the diverse, seasoned talents of Lauren Lazar (Young Sally), Joe Adams (Young Ben), Traci Alexander (Young Phyllis), Felicity Adams-Hannigan (Young Phyllis), Adam Malcolm (Young Buddy), Joe Likuski (Roscoe), Vanessa Ferro (Solange), Susan Acheson (Stella Deems), Arlene Abramsky (Heidi Schiller). Completing the company are Ruth Bennett, Steven Fenster, Michael Way Skinner, Suzanne Scott, Deirdre Vance, Robin Bromley, Clive Gomperts, Brian Garel, Caileigh Kyle, Nancy Holmes, Emily Powell, Erin Cartwright, Kyla Whetham, James Brown, Henry Lenz, Sam Robinson, Dana Garel, Jamie Schouten, Gabrielle da Silva, and Irene Blainey. This production will feature choreography by Caileigh Kyle.

Follies is a surreal, heart-wrenching examination of life, theatre and the great mystery of "the road you didn't take."

Tickets are $25 for adults and $18 for students and seniors. Groups of 10+ qualify for a special rate of $22.50/person. Follies will be seen at Newmarket Theatre from January 30 - February 1, 2015. Tickets may be purchased online at www.newtix.ca, in person at the Box Office or by calling (905)-953-5122.
