Tricord Media, a division of Crossroads Christian Communications (Crossroads), is partnering with AFFIRM FILMS, a division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Provident Films, a division of Sony Music Entertainment, as the Canadian theatrical licensing agent of Sherwood Pictures' movie, COURAGEOUS.

Crossroads is the home of the inspirational daily television series "100 Huntley Street" and has produced Christian media for decades. Senior Pastor Michael Catt, Executive Pastor Jim McBride, and the leadership team of Sherwood Pictures, along with Crossroads Chief Executive Officer Don Simmonds, and the leadership of Tricord Media collectively made the announcement.

COURAGEOUS is the fourth release of Sherwood Pictures, the moviemaking ministry of Sherwood Church in Albany, Georgia. Their first release since FIREPROOF, the No. 1 independent film in 2008, COURAGEOUS joins FACING THE GIANTS and FLYWHEEL in touching and impacting lives through heartfelt stories of faith and hope.

Don Simmonds, CEO of Crossroads says, "It is a privilege for the Crossroads family to partner with Sony and Sherwood to become the conduit through which Canadian fathers will be challenged to a whole new standard of courage. Our dream for Canada starts with churches and families inviting their neighbours to see this gripping movie, and ends with the dream of a nation of fathers who have decided to step up courageously to lead and love their own families!"

"The movie is about fatherhood and the title is one word: COURAGEOUS," says Director and Actor Alex Kendrick, briefly outlining the plot. "Four fathers who are all in law enforcement-who protect and serve together-go through a terrible tragedy," he said. "They begin looking at their role as fathers . . . and they begin challenging one another to fulfill God's intention for fathers."

That single-word title, Pastor Catt said, echoes God's call for men to "rise with courage" in their homes and as leaders.

On September 30th, 2011 there will be a limited theatrical release in theatres across Canada.
