The Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) and Music Director Peter Oundjian are set to delight new audiences in Florida this January, kicking off the new year by embarking on an exciting journey to the Sunshine State for a five-city concert tour. With stops at premier venues in West Palm Beach, Naples, Miami, Daytona Beach, and Gainesville, this trip marks the TSO's fifth tour of the state, where they will deliver six much-anticipated performances.

The TSO is thrilled to perform two different programs comprising well-known works from the repertoire, including Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, and the expressive Piano Concerto No. 1 by Chopin-featuring acclaimed Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki. The TSO will also present Rimsky-Korsakov's evocative Scheherazade(featured on the TSO's first recording for Chandos Records, which was nominated for a 2015 JUNO Award), the magical Wondrous Light by Canadian, JUNO-nominated composer John Estacio, and two notable Tchaikovsky favourites: Polonaise from Eugene Onegin and Symphony No. 6 "Pathétique".

Called "A musician of unusual refinement and imagination' by The Boston Globe, 20-year-old Canadian pianist Jan Lisiecki signed an exclusive recording agreement with Deutsche Grammophon at the age of 15. Recognized for his poetic and mature playing, Lisiecki has received many prestigious awards. In 2012, he was named UNICEF Ambassador to Canada after being a National Youth Representative since 2008. Following this Florida tour with the TSO, Lisiecki looks forward to his Carnegie Hall début with the Philadelphia Orchestra, and a tour of Germany with the Warsaw Philharmonic.

"I'm thrilled to be taking the Toronto Symphony Orchestra on tour to Florida this January. Florida has some of the best concert halls in North America, each of them with extraordinary concert series and wonderful audiences," says Peter Oundjian. "The fact that we can also reach the half a million Canadians who live in Florida during the winter makes this tour all the more exciting!"

For the fifth time, the TSO will represent both Toronto and Canada to growing audiences in Florida, sharing their outstanding talent through a collection of celebrated works. The tour also offers Canadian snowbirds wintering in Florida the unique opportunity to experience a taste of home and connect with the TSO.
