On Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 7:30pm, Toronto Musical Concerts (TMC) presents a staged musical reading of Stephen Sondheim's MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG In Concert at the Al Green Theatre (Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre - 750 Spadina Ave).
Merrily We Roll Along In Concert is a compelling musical about friendship, compromise and the high price of success. Stephen Sondheim and George Furth combine the excitement and energy of a backstage musical with a poignant and emotional contemporary story about the importance of staying true to one's ideals.
Merrily We Roll Along begins in the present and moves backwards, tracing the lives of a wealthy, jaded composer, and his two estranged friends through each milestone of their personal and professional lives. The show ends with a touch of irony, as the three best friends at the start of their careers, face a bright future: young, talented and enthusiastic about the world waiting to be conquered.
Merrily We Roll Along In Concert features professional musical theatre talents: Louisa Burgess (Scotty); Lana Carillo (Gussie); Lawrence Cotton(Joe); Michael De Rose (Franklin); Sarah Gibbons (Meg); Ryan Kelly (Charley); Lizzie Kurtz (Mary); Joseph Lévesque (Jerome); David Lopez (Terry);Michael MacEachern (Ru); Kevin Morris (Tyler); Anwyn Musico (Beth); and Kristi Woods (K.T.).
