Théâtre Français De Toronto Presents The 7th Edition Of The Multi- Dora Award Winning Series LES ZINSPIRES Image

Théâtre français de Toronto is pleased to present the seventh edition of its hit series Les Zinspirés. Directed by Chanda Gibson for the third consecutive time, Les Zinspirés: L'âge de raison (The Age of Reason) will be presented at the Berkeley Street Theatre from November 29 to December 7, 2018 with General Audience Performances featuring English Surtitles on November 30 and December 5 at 8pm.

Honoured with the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding Direction last season, capping many previous nominations from this prestigious award, Les Zinspirés gives voice to the thought and concerns that preoccupy the lives of teenagers today. Let yourself once again be transported by five unique manifestos, written by five talented and assuredly inspired young Ontarians. Reworked with the support of experienced creators and performed by professional actors, they approach with sensitivity the issues of the young that question themselves and the world around them.

Être une fille ("Being a girl") by Cathlin Jiaqi Han
Lively and humorous, Léa has a mega-crush on the hottest girl in school. When the young woman finally musters the courage to ask her out, a somewhat embarrassing incident upsets her plans... Cathlin Jiaqi Han's hard-hitting and resolutely feminist pen will not leave you indifferent.

Sans le conditionnel passé ("Without the past conditional") by Mariam Guira
Charismatic captain of the basketball team, Mattéo has it all. And yet, he falls into a deep depression. Will he have the strength to ask for help? With candour and gracefulness, Mariam Guira explores the dangers of undetected loneliness.

Enweille Éloi ("C'mon, Éloi") by Olivia Cyr
Éloi confidently approaches his first day as a lifeguard at his community swimming pool. But when a young boy begins to drown, Éloi suddenly freezes. With a breathless narrative, Olivia Cyr delves into the maze of panic.

J'ai fait quoi ? ("I did what?") by Errine Jean Charles
Invited to a party, Jenny suddenly begins to feel sick. As she gradually loses consciousness, she finds herself alone in a room facing a boy she doesn't recognize. How can she reconstruct the sequence of events and recover from an evening that turned tragic? With touching, delicate writing, Errine Jean Charles shares the poignant story of a young victim.

L'Honorable M.Trompe ("The Honorable Mr. Trompe") by Abigail Morin
Arrogant and dishonest, the elephant Mr. Trompe seeks to establish his domination in the jungle. Will its citizens manage to thwart his plans? In the style of George Orwell, Abigail Morin offers a fable portraying the absurdity of current politics with a biting irony.

This year comical and ludicrous stories sit side by side with touching and emotional tales on a set that breaks the fourth wall, to better engage its audience. Les Zinspirés : L'Âge de raison plunges us intimately into the world of young people working through the doubts and apprehensions of their generation, but whose ambitions and dreams turn out to be stronger than ever.

With Nick Di Gaetano, Ziad Ek, Bianca Heuvelmans, Sheila Ingabire-Isaro & Eudes La Roche-Francoeur.

TfT thanks its partners: VIA Rail Canada (Seasonal Sponsor), BMO Financial Group, University of Ottawa,s Theatre Department, The Ontario Ministry of Education (Program Partners for Youth), TD Bank (sponsor of the surtitles), Pierre et Mariel O'Neill-Karck (Show Patrons).
