Théâtre français de Toronto will present the fifth installment of its wildly popular theatre for young audience series Les Zinspirés. Directed by Chanda Legroux Gibson, Les Zinspirés cinq sur cinq will be presented in French with English surtitles at the Berkeley Street Theatre, November 18, 23 & 26.
With 9 Dora Award nominations since 2013 in the Theatre for Young Audiences Category and winner of a Dora Award in 2016 for Best Direction (Sébastien Bertrand), Les Zinspirés continues to charm and entertain its growing audience. Get ready for the 5th installment: a unique and highly original production written by five teens from Southern Ontario, workshopped by experienced playwrights, and performed by professional actors. Clearly, the next generation has something important to say!
Les Zinspirés presents five urban stories revealing the fears, dreams and aspirations of today's youth. This Generation Z doesn't hesitate from expressing its thirst for adventure, discovery and emancipation but sometimes struggles when dealing with overly controlling parents (« WIYAMO » by Muhammad Alhideq, «Touchdown » by Rob Dean). The same defiance against the world of adults is found in « Le Bicycle » by Benjamin Kersey, where a young boy must face a headmistress at The Edge of madness. But this generation also knows how to find the exact words to describe its scars and its doubts (« 733 jours » by Delphine Sandall-Guay). Finally, it shows us its self-deprecating humor with the character of Izabelle, an adolescent who perceives the world through the TV series she watches over and over again (« Netflix pour les survivants » by Anna Witulska). Here are five stories. Five unique perspectives on the same world. Here is Les Zinspirés : cinq sur cinq!
