The Theatre Centre Presents KITCHEN CHICKEN Image

L'orchestre d'hommes-orchestres, the virtuosic creators of LODHO Performs Tom Waits and Cabaret brise-jour, returns to The Theatre Centre with a freshly cooked up kitchen chronicle.

Spectacular and delightful, Kitchen Chicken flies by at an astonishingly fast pace like recipes in a flipbook. The magnificent performers sing the songs of American 1930 s yodel queens, the DeZurik Sisters, all while preparing appetizers, mashing potatoes, and roasting a chicken (which may or may not be served up). Truly a musical and culinary tour de force!

Chameleon-like and unclassifiable, L'orchestre d'hommes-orchestres embodies the ethos of the one-man band; a jack-of-all-trades with no specific expertise apart from the ability to do everything at once. L'orchestre's work is open, inventive, and deliberately disordered. Each performance is a unique event that will never happen again.

Formed in Quebec City in 2002, LODHO have created more than 15 productions for the stage and public spaces, toured to over 80 cities throughout Europe, America, and Oceania, were chosen by Robert Lepage for the City of Toronto Glenn Gould Prot g Prize in 2014, and received the Ville de Quebec Award in 2015.

The Theatre Centre last presented L'orchestre in 2014 when they opened their new Queen Street West live arts incubator. Now, five years later, The Theatre Centre is thrilled to celebrate the fifth anniversary in their new home with L'orchestre d'hommes-orchestres' newest creation, Kitchen Chicken.

This is an important relationship for us and we feel privileged to have the opportunity to present their latest piece. L'orchestre d'hommes-orchestres is rarely seen in Canada (outside of Quebec) and this will be a unique opportunity for Toronto audiences to catch some of Canada's most inventive and magical artists.
