Nominated for five 2001 Tony Awards A Class Act is a love letter to musical theatre.  It is the hilarious and heartbreaking true story of Ed Kleban, lyricist of A Chorus Line, and his life-long quest for love, fame and fortune.  Told through Kleban's own amazing, never-before-heard songs (and a few old favourites from A Chorus Line - "At the Ballet," "What I Did For Love" and "One"), A Class Act brings you behind the scenes and into the hearts of the rare, colorful people who make the musicals we grow up and fall in love with.  For anyone who has ever struggled to make a dream come true, A Class Act is the musical for you!

A Class Act stars The Civic Light-Opera Company's artistic director, Joe Cascone as Ed Kleban, surrounded by favourites from the company's talented ensemble cast as Kleban's entourage:  David Haines as Marvin Hamlisch, Larry Gibbs as Michael Bennett, Stephanie Douglas, JoAnne Kennedy, Julie Lennick, Caroline Moro-Dalicandro, Susan Sander, and Eric Botosan as the legendary conductor Lehman Engel.

Paul Chistman, Associate Professor of Musical Theatre from Oklahoma University, has been imported as guest artist to be the show's musical director, with CLOC's resident choreographer Lesley Ansell taking on the direction of the many spectacular dance numbers.

A Class Act runs from May 27 to June 14 at the Fairview Library Theatre, 35 Fairview Mall Drive.  Performances: Wednesdays at 7:00, Thursday to Saturday at 8:00 with matinees at 2:00 on Sunday May 31, June 7, 14 and Saturday June 13.

Tickets are $20 to $27.50 and can be ordered by calling the BOX OFFICE at (416) 755-1717 or by visiting the website at www.CivicLightOperaCompany.com/
