Teen Improv Drop-In & Comedy Camps Set for The Second City Training Centre

The Second City Training Centre Toronto is proud to introduce a new weekly Improv Drop-In for Teens, Comedy Camps for Grades 2 - 12, plus weekly shows at The John Candy Box Theatre on the third floor of 99 Blue Jays Way.

Beginning Tuesday, November 24 the Teen Drop Ins at The Second City Training Centre Toronto will be held each Tuesday from 4:30-6pm, and are open to teenagers who wish to try out an improv class for the first time, or want some extra practice working their funny bone. The Second City Training Centre Toronto will once again offer full day Comedy Camps for Grades 2-12 running December 21-23 and 28-31, 2015. Campers play fun improv games to help access creativity, boost self-confidence and develop spontaneity and playfulness. Comedy Camps are a cool and comfortable place for youth to exercise creative energies through improvisation!

For the big kids in Grade 9-12, The Second City Training Centre Toronto's Comedy Camp offers Sketch: The Showcase where experienced campers create and perform their own sketch show with original pieces and favourites from The Second City archives. Campers will learn to use improv as a writing tool, and how to develop a revue like a pro. For more information please visit: www.secondcity.com/courses/toronto/camps

The Second City Training Centre provides performance opportunities to students and emerging artists each day of the week at The John Candy Box Theatre. Recurring shows include: Monday Night Mash-Up, a mix of current students, alumni, and newbies playing improv games; Let the Music Play, where co-hosts Phatt Al and Matty Burns introduce musical musings into every improv scene; The Iron Maidens, an evening of female-driven comedy with a special guest and open improv jam; The Candy Box Cabaret, a comedy showcase with magic, dance, character pieces, dramatic monologues and musical short form games; and Anyone Goes, where improv enthusiasts of all levels are placed on a team led by an improv pro, and given ten minutes of stage time to give it their all.

The Second City Training Centre Toronto is the largest school of improv and sketch comedy in the country with an annual enrollment of over 6,000 students. The new, specially-designed centre at 99 Blue Jays Way offers Adult, Youth and Teen programs, including Stagecraft, Public Speaking, Stand Up and Improv for Anxiety. The John Candy Box Theatre provides performance opportunities to students and emerging artists with state-of-the-art sound and lighting equipment.
