The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival (TOsketchfest) is back to show off the best comedy troupes from the 2013 Festival, which ran March 7-17, 2013, with the Best of the Fest Encore Show.
The Best of the Fest Encore Show, in partnership with NXNE Comedy, spotlights the three award-winning troupes from TOsketchfest2013 Festival on Friday, June 14 at Measure (formerly Poor Alex Theatre) featuring She Said What, Deadpan Powerpoint and The Rocket Scientists. 50 NXNE wristband and pass holders can join a rush line the day of the show for free admission.
SHE SAID WHAT were chosen as the 2013 Second City Best of the Fest Award winners. They impressed the jury with their smart and hilarious character-driven set. She Said What are a highly accomplished all-female troupe who were previously nominated for Canadian Comedy Award.
Throughout the festival, audiences voted for their favourite troupes at the end of each showcase to determine the NOW Magazine Audience Choice Award winner. For the second time DEADPAN POWERPOINT emerged victorious as the fan favourites, winning previously in 2010.
The Steam Whistle Brewing Producers' Pick Award went to THE ROCKET SCIENTISTS (Ephraim Ellis, Brandon Hackett, Kevin MacNeil and Chris Small). This troupe was chosen for presenting a quality show, networking like crazy and their enthusiastic attitude to the festival experience.
The Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival is the largest independent comedy festival in Canada, highlighting the best live, scripted comedy in North America.
