The 8th Annual Toronto Sketch Comedy Festival (TOsketchfest) has announced that Bruce McCulloch of The Kids in the Hall will bring his original show, Young Drunk Punk, to the Randolph Theatre - for one night only - on Monday, March 11 at 8pm, as part of the 2013 Festival. Young Drunk Punk will mark Bruce's first solo performance in Toronto in over 10 years.
Accompanied by Brian Connelly of Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet and Atomic 7 fame, Young Drunk Punk is a stand up, poetry and music show that chronicles Bruce McCulloch's journey from a young drunk punk in Edmonton to a pajama-clad dad living in the Hollywood Hills.
TOsketchfest will co-present, in partnership with I Heart Jokes, Eugene Mirman at the Randolph Theatre on Saturday, March 9 at 7pm, as part of the Headliner Series. Eugene Mirman voices Gene in the animated series Bob's Burgers and plays Yvgeny Mirminsky in the mockumentary TV series Delocated.
TOsketchfest is also proud to add Kurt Braunohler to the Festival's Headliner Series. Kurt Braunohler will perform on Friday, March 8 at The LOT Stand-Up Comedy Club at 10pm and will also special guest host Sunday Night Live at Comedy Bar on Sunday, March 10 at 9pm. Kurt Braunohler is a regular on Chelsea Lately and was recently named one of Variety's "Top 10 Comics to Watch".
TOsketchfest 2013 will host over 40 sketch troupes from across North America, March 7-17, 2013, at Comedy Bar, The LOT and Randolph Theatre.
Already announced for TOsketchfest 2013 are some of Canada's best comedy troupes including Hot Thespian Action, Dance Party of Newfoundland, Rapp Battelz, Peter N Chris and the premiere of Uncalled For's latest main stage show Ready, Set, Götterdämmerung!. On Sunday, March 17, the closing weekend, legendary wrestler Bret "The Hitman" Hart will host Sunday Night Live at Comedy Bar.
