Co-Artistic Directors David Norsworthy and Kristen Carcone of TOES FOR DANCE proudly present the TOES FOR DANCE 2015 FESTIVAL featuring Toronto's Belinda McGuire Dance Projects with a full-length solo programme curated and performed by McGuire, and New York City's all-male MADBOOTS DANCE with a work for the company's quartet of dancers.

TOES FOR DANCE 2015 FESTIVAL, which follows the company's successful Mixed Program of tasty extracts from a dozen contemporary dance choreographers, is designed to offer audience members the opportunity to immerse themselves fully in the choreographic world of a single artistic voice. TOES FOR DANCE FESTIVAL performances are extraordinarily physical and sophisticated explorations of highly refined and personal choreographic perspectives.

THREE MUSES is a spectacular one-woman dance event featuring esteemed solo performer, Dora Award-nominated Belinda McGuire. Hailed by the Toronto Star as "riveting", Mississauga-born McGuire is a graduate of The Juilliard School and has performed internationally while planting roots in Toronto.THREE MUSES features solo works choreographed by Sharon B. Moore, Idan Sharabi and Doug Varone alongside one of McGuire's own signature works, all performed by McGuire.

"In a classic muse-choreographer relationship, the muse is a dancer, whose character, physicality and powers of interpretation unleash new depths and directions of artistry from the choreogrpaher. As a dancer, I have found an inverse muse-like relationship with certain choreographers." Belinda McGuire

Earlier this year, Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz, MADBOOTS DANCE co-artistic directors and founders, premiered (SAD BOYS) at the prestigious Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. "Campbell and Diaz create dynamic movement phrases whose powerfully visceral quality is heightened by their technical and artistic prowess, and that of the dancers who join them." The Boston Globe

Moved by the growing numbers of suicide among LGBTQ youth, the company's foundations are built from the perspective of life as a young gay male. Fantasy, stoicism, fear, sexuality, and otherness all surround (SAD BOYS). Incorporating text by Allen Ginsberg, the work reveals one's desire to return to the body in which they were born, before any projected expectations or hopes were brought on by society. (SAD BOYS) seeks power in the nameless joys and sorrows.

TOES (The Outreach and Exchange Strategy) FOR DANCE supports and develops the professional contemporary dance community by creating unique and valuable platforms for artistic exchange, public engagement and dance education. Both companies featured in the TOES FOR DANCE FESTIVAL will also be offering master classes. For more details and to register: toesfordance.ca/workshops.
