Summer in Toronto offers an exciting range of theatrical productions, festivals and events to keep people from all avenues of life entertained. Outside of the city we have the world renowned Stratford and Shaw Festivals, and within Toronto we are blessed with a wide range of summer festivals showcasing theatre, music, art and food. This is in addition to all the wonderful productions we are accustomed to year round.

As in previous years, BWW Toronto is participating in 'Summer Stages' which attempts to pick five of the most anticipated productions hitting our city of the summer. It was harder than ever to narrow the list down, but we hope you enjoy these pics for summer theatrical entertainment:

CRAZY FOR YOU at the Stratford Festival
April 21 to October 12

Sent to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose on a derelict theatre, banker Bobby Child falls for its owner's daughter, Polly Baker. Can he reconcile the demands of duty and love - and his own dreams of dancing? "I Got Rhythm," "Nice Work if You Can Get It" and "Someone to Watch Over Me" are just some of the gems in this dynamic musical's dazzling score.

MAN OF LA MANCHA at the Stratford Festival
May 8 to October 11

Awaiting trial by the Inquisition, poet and playwright Miguel de Cervantes is assailed by his fellow prisoners, who try to seize the manuscript of his masterpiece, Don Quixote. His inspired response: a challenge to join him in staging his stirring tale of Quixote's obsessive quest to attain an impossible dream.

COMPANY at Theatre20
June 21 to July 13

Tony Award-winning Company, said by many to have launched the age of the modern musical, centres on Robert, a single man unable to commit to a steady relationship, the married couples who are his best friends, and his three on-again off-again girlfriends. Set in upper-middle-class Manhattan and told through a series of vignettes in no particular chronological order, each character and scene is linked by the celebration of Bobby's 35th birthday.

CABARET at the Shaw Festival
April 10 to October 26

Welcome to the Kit Kat Klub, the hottest nightclub in Berlin. American Cliff Bradshaw has just arrived in town. When he meets nightclub singer Sally Bowles, his life is turned upside down - just as the world is about to turn upside down, with Hitler on the rise in Weimar Germany. Another couple - Fraulein Schneider, Cliff's landlady, and Herr Schultz, a Jewish grocer - must face the music, while the Emcee invites Cliff and Sally to forget the world around them. Hailed as a rare musical that both challenges and entertains, it premiered on Broadway in 1966 and ran for over 1100 performances, winning numerous Tony Awards including Best Musical.
