The Stratford Shakespeare Festival will present The Tempest, directed by Des McAnuff, at Festival Theatre. The Tempest opens June 25 and runs through September 12.

The Tempest tells the story of Prospero and his daughter Miranda, two people stranded on an island who have spent twelve years practicing magic. Prospero, along with the help of a spirit named Ariel, creates a storm at sea in order to bring his enemies to him and repay them for stealing his dukedom.

The cast for this production has been announced, with Tony Award Winner Christopher Plummer starring as Prospero. Other cast members include Trish Lindstrom as Miranda, James Blendick as Gonzalo, Bruce Dow as Trinculo and Peter Hutt as Alonso.
