This week, Starvox Entertainment was announced as No. 45 on the 25th annual PROFIT 500, the definitive ranking of Canada's Fastest-Growing Companies. Published in the summer issue of PROFIT Magazine and online at PROFITguide.com, the PROFIT 500 ranks Canadian businesses by their revenue growth over five years.
Founded by Corey Ross, Starvox Entertainment is a Toronto-based Production Company that has produced, managed, represented and promoted performing arts shows across the world, to international recognition. It made the 2013 PROFIT 500 list with five-year revenue growth of 1370% and is the only live entertainment company recognized on the list.
"I'm pleased and proud that a lean, privately-owned
Production Company focused on the arts ranks as one of the fastest-growing companies in Canada," said Corey Ross, president of
Starvox Entertainment. "This is a testament to the appetite for innovative, quality arts programming in Toronto and around the world, and of course, to the dedication and drive of our team."
A major piece of
Starvox Entertainment's business is internationally-presented productions and touring shows to major city centres. This week alone, the company opens three major works, including
Andrew Lloyd Webber's much-loved musical CATS in Toronto (opening June 11); THE GIACOMO VARIATIONS, starring screen actor
John Malkovich in Montreal (June 4 to 5) and Toronto (June 7 to 9); and POTTED POTTER: THE UNAUTHORIZED HARRY EXPERIENCE - A Parody by Dan and Jeff began its second off-Broadway run yesterday in New York City. Hanoch Rosenn's pantomime,Speechless (Mudo) opens in Mexico in July.
The company has offices in Toronto, New York City and Mexico City, with the Starvox Booking Division in New York currently managing tours for 22 productions from the 350 member Mormon Tabernacle Choir to shows by Tony Award-winner
Betty Buckley and singer-songwriter
Paul Williams with the current tour of Siudy Between Worlds, an electrifying fusion of dance, selling out in Caracas, Venezuela.
Other acclaimed productions from
Starvox Entertainment include two seasons of Hope Rising!, a concert benefiting the
Stephen Lewis Foundation (featuring artists such as
Annie Lennox,
Sarah McLachlan,
Angelique Kidjo,
Rufus Wainwright and
Alicia Keys); the Toronto run of the acclaimed Alberta Ballet production of LOVE LIES BLEEDING, a modern ballet based on the life and music of Sir
Elton John; and the world premiere of BULLET FOR ADOLF: ALMOST A COMEDY, written and directed by
Woody Harrelson. When
Starvox Entertainment mounted the wildly successful North American premiere of POTTED POTTER, it had a sold-out run at Toronto's Panasonic Theatre and the initial New York City run in 2012 received rave reviews from the New York Times, New York Postand a New York Times Critics' Pick designation.
Starvox Entertainment has toured shows across Canada and the United States, as well as Mexico, China, the Middle East and Europe. Ross attributes much of his success with international projects to living and working in multicultural Toronto. Highlights of Starvox's international projects include presentations for the Shanghai International Arts Festival (China), the Tamaulipas International Festival (Mexico), a launch event for the 50th Anniversary of the Casino du Beirut (Lebanon) and a production at France's opulent theatre Le Casino du Paris.
