StageWorks Toronto is pleased to present its fifth annual musical production, Kander and Ebb's CABARET - playing at the George Ignatieff Theatre (15 Devonshire Place) - from tonight, July 16th-26th, 2015.

Directed by Michael Yaneff, music directed by Tom Kerr, and choreographed by Camille Dziewurski, this daring and innovative production promises to challenge and entertain audiences.

CABARET tells the story of a young American writer, Cliff Bradshaw, who moves to Berlin as the 1920s are drawing to a close. He strikes up a friendship with a German, Ernst Ludwig, who sorts him out with a place to stay and introduces him to the very seedy Kit Kat Klub. There, Cliff meets Sally Bowles, a tenacious and outgoing performer who uses her sexuality and determination to talk her way into living with him. As the political climate begins to change with the rise of the Nazi party, Cliff's friendships and relationships are tested, and through a knowing Emcee, both he and the audience are taken on a dangerous journey through politics, sex, drugs, and all the other elements that define Berlin on the cusp of the defining moment of the century.
