Olympic Gold medalist, Emmy winner and ice skating legend Dorothy Hamill and singing star Kevin Spirtas ("Days of Our Lives") headline Willy Bietak's Broadway on Ice lavish musical spectacular playing November 13 – 18 at the Red Robinson Theater in Coquitlam, Vancouver, BC, Canada.
Spirtas will also perform on the show's tour December 5 – 9 in the Texas cities of Corpus Christi, El Paso, Laredo and Hidalgo, costarring with Nancy Kerrigan; then again with Hamill December 27 – 31 at the Cerritos Center For The Performing Arts in Cerritos, CA.
Spirtas, whose Broadway credits include A Chorus Line and The Boy From Oz, in addition to Hairspray in Las Vegas, is part of a sparkling ice show extravaganza featuring special guest star comedian-pianist Dale Gonyea and an all-star cast of international skating champions celebrating the beauty, grace, and artistry of figure skating embraced in the magic of a Broadway musical.
The critically acclaimed Broadway on Ice production showcases the skating artistry of Hamill joined by an electrifying dance-skating and acrobatic company performing to the music of such classic Broadway shows as A Chorus Line, Cabaret, Chicago, West Side Story and Rent. Spirtas performs a medley of memorable Broadway hits and comedian-pianist Gonyea, performs a good-natured, fun-filled musical parody of popular tunes adding his own brand of infectious humor to the festivities.
"Gorgeous costumes, fabulous sets, state-of-the-art sound and mystical lighting all adorn the theater's proscenium stage, which magically is transformed into a wondrous and intimate, visual ice skating spectacle the entire family will enjoy and long remember," explain press notes, "Willy Bietak's Broadway on Ice debuted its national tour in November 2004 and has since been performed for more than 100,000 people."
The ice extravaganza was created and produced by Bietak, directed and choreographed by two-time Emmy award-winner Sarah Kawahara and features dazzling costumes by two-time Emmy award-winner Jef Billings. The production was designed by Robert W. Rang and the music directed by Kevin Nadeau.
