Cities, Museum and Soft Power, edited by Gail Lord and Ngaire Blankenberg

Soft Power, the power of persuasion and attraction, is increasingly being discussed within the cultural industries. In their recently published ground-breaking book "Cities, Museums and Soft Power", Gail Dexter Lord and Ngaire Blankenberg have demonstrated how soft power for the 21st century sits at the nexus of cities and culture.

Outstanding 21st century museums and cultural organisations are not only about their architecture, their exhibitions or the number of people they draw- but also about the way in which they promote collaboration and social cohesion, develop skills, empower broad audiences and support creative and critical thinking. In the context of the biggest immigration movement in Europe since World War 2, Soft Power is a key strategy to support social integration and catalyze creativity born from for our cities and communities.
