Actress Shirley Douglas and Tony Award winner Brent Carver will join a star-studded line up of performing artists to Holler 4 Health Care!, an evening of merry maladies and malady melodies to protest the end of federal leadership in Canadian health care, to be held March 31, 2014 at 8pm at Trinity-St. Paul's Centre, 427 Bloor St. W., Toronto.

Also appearing will be Fiona Reid, John Alcorn, Ted Dykstra, Mary Lou Fallis, Art Hindel, David Husband, Tabby Johnson, Nora McLelland, Rick Roberts, Nancy White, and Women Fully Clothed among others. More announcements of special guests will be made in the days and week to come.

"I am deeply concerned that the federal government led by Stephen Harper has no intention of signing a new Health Accord with the provinces," says Ms. Douglas. "While there is overwhelming support for public, universal health care, the federal government is retreating from supporting and defending this system."

Holler 4 Health Care! is part of a National Day of Action for a new Federal - Provincial Health Accord organized by the Canadian Health Coalition (www.healthcoalition.ca).

"It is vitally important that we sound the alarm and get Canadians to understand and speak out against government plans before it is too late. That is why I am joining other performers for this Day of Action," added Douglas.

Shirley Douglas is the daughter of Medicare founder Tommy Douglas.

Holler 4 Health Care! will be held at the Trinity-St Paul's Centre, 427 Bloor Street West on March 31, 2014 at 8:00pm. For more information see www.facebook.com/events/563190377110432/.
