Board Chair Andrew M. Pringle announced the appointment of Lord Mayor Pat Darte and Arlene Carson to the Board of Governors during the Shaw Festival's Annual General Meeting earlier today.

Recently elected Lord Mayor of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Mr. Darte will act as a liaison to the community and continue the long-standing partnership between the Town and the Festival. Ms. Carson of Niagara-on-the-Lake has been an active supporter of the Shaw Festival and is the current president of the Shaw Guild - a group of volunteers who support The Shaw through various initiatives including fundraising events, gardening on the Festival grounds, greeting patrons and scanning tickets, and managing the Docents program.

As ex-officio Governors with full voting rights, Ms. Carson and Mr. Darte join the 24-member binational Board of Governors entrusted with overseeing the operation and ensuring the well-being of The Shaw through the development of strategic direction and management oversight.

Retiring Board of Governors members Vivien Dzau, Dave Eke, Peter Gill, Judy Goetz Sanger, Nancy Smith and Gregg D. Watkins were thanked for furthering the interests of The Shaw through their counsel and contribution to various committees during their tenure.

The Shaw Festival's 2015 season begins April 8 with the musical adventure Peter and the Starcatcher and continues until November 1. The playbill also features Sweet Charity, Pygmalion, Light Up the Sky, The Lady from the Sea, Top Girls, The Twelve-Pound Look, You Never Can Tell, The Divine: A Play for Sarah Bernhardt, The Intelligent Homosexual's Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures and The Next Whisky Bar: A Kurt Weill Cabaret. Tickets for the 2015 season and additional information can be found at www.shawfest.com or 1-800-511-SHAW (7429).
