If music be the food of love, play on! Hot off their Best of FringeKids run at Toronto's Solar Stage, acclaimed puppet company Shakey-Shake and Friends returns with one of The Bard's most beloved comedies: Twelfth Night...A Puppet Epic!
When a shipwreck strands Viola in a strange land, she disguises herself as her twin brother Sebastian and finds herself in love triangle between a love-struck Duke (who loves Olivia), the beautiful Countess Olivia (who loves Viola in disguise), and herself (who loves the Duke but has to woo Olivia on his behalf)! Comic hi-jinks ensue as schemes are hatched, tricks are played, and love flourishes...and things only get more complicated when her twin brother arrives!
Designed to act as an engaging, entertaining, but also faithful first point of contact for young audiences, Shakey-Shake's winning formula mixes original text with modern pop culture references. In this way, we make Shakespeare easy, fun, and accessible, while still telling the whole story - with lots of jokes for the adults in the house, too! Audiences young and old agree that Shakey-Shake and Friends "Just might create a lifelong love of Shakespeare in its audience." (Mooney on Theatre)
