This February, Scarborough Music Theatre presents Sweeney Todd- Stephen Sondheim's popular tale of revenge and meat pies. Benjamin Barker returns to London to find that his daughter is now the ward of Judge Turpin, the very man responsible for his exile. He sets out on a murderous quest for revenge and if his need to dispose of the bodies can help business at Mrs. Lovett's meat pie shop then his revenge becomes a dish best served hot - and with a flaky crust.

Director/Music Director Michael Jones has been the guiding hand behind some of Scarborough Music Theatre's most popular recent productions as director of My Fair Lady, director/music director ofThe Full Monty, and music director of Nunsense. He is joined by choreographer Dot Routledge. Andrew Mitchell, last seen as the Pharaoh in last season's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, leads the cast as Sweeney Todd. Jason Silzer, last seen as the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz, joins him as his nemesis Judge Turpin and he is assisted in his quest for revenge by SMT newcomer Laurie Hurst as Mrs. Lovett.
