The world-wide smash-hit sensation STOMP is making two stops in Southwestern Ontario as it continues it's successful US National Tour.  While there are currently no dates set for Toronto, it is less than a two hour drive to either Kitchener or London, where the tour will make stops later this month and again in July.

STOMP started fourteen years ago as a street performance in the UK, and has become an international sensation.  It has performed in 36 countries worldwide and continues to wow audiences young and old with each new performance.  It has won countless awards, including an Olivier Award for Best Choreography, a New York Obie Award, and a Drama Desk award.  Currently STOMP has three other successful shows on the go in addition to the national tour.  There is an off-Broadway production at New York's Orpheum Theatre as well as a company in the UK and Europe.

The latest US National Tour brings some exciting changes to the production, including two new numbers entitled "Paint Cans" and "Donuts".  The new routines have also resulted in new instruments being used including tractor-trailer inner tubes.  These new additions keep the show fresh and allow the creative team the opportunity to try out new ways to bring excitement and energy to each performance.

One of the best things about STOMP is it's unique ability to appeal to people of all age ranges and backgrounds.  Even people who find that they don't like more traditional theatre can find themselves enjoying the experience.  STOMP uses everything except traditional percussion instruments, in addition to the tractor-trailer inner tubes mentioned above, they also use tea chests, Zippo lighters, boots, hupcaps and plastic bags.  This unique blend of unorthodox instruments is what gives STOMP such a diverse appeal and has kept people coming back for more.

The current tour is gaining a lot of momentum, and an additional show has just been added to the Kitchener engagement.  The London engagement has also been moved so that it will be performed in one of London's premiere theatres, a very intimate setting for this type of production.

The Kitchener Production takes place at the Centre in the Square and has three shows, March 24th, 25th and 26th at 7:30PM.  Tickets start at $39 and are on sale now.  For more details or to purchase tickets, call 1-800-265-8977 or purchase online at the Centre in the Square website.

The London engagement is playing at The Grand Theatre from July 7th-July 12th and tickets start at $58.   Tickets go on sale March 21st. For more details or to purchase tickets, call 1-866-455-2849 or visit The John Labatt Centrewebsite.
