Hot off a sold-out run at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto, Scorched, will take the stage in the Tom Hendry Theatre at the MTC Warehouse from November 13 to 29. Lebanese/Québécois playwright Wajdi Mouawad’s searing story of war and separation, Scorched sold out before opening night in Toronto and was so popular they’ve already announced its return next season. Scorched is the English translation of Mouawad’s original play, Incendies, which has been performed more than 100 times throughout France and Quebec.
Scorched tells the story of a brother and sister who, in order to fulfill their mother’s last wishes, return to her war-torn country to find a father and brother they never knew they had. As they embark on a journey into their mother’s past, the siblings unravel the mystery of her incredible life.
Scorched stars Valerie Buhagiar, Sergio Di Zio, Jerry Franken, Sophie Goulet, Janick Hébert, Nicola Lipman, Sarah Orenstein, Alex Poch-Goldin and Paul Rainville.
Led by Director Richard Rose, the artistic team features Set and Lighting Designer Graeme S. Thomson, Costume Designer Teresa Przybylski, Sound Designer Todd Charlton, Assistant Director Kelly Straughan, Fight Director John Stead, Tour Production Manager Stefan Lenzi, Music Coach Maryem Tollar, Arabic Coach Roula Said, Stage Manager Stéfanie Séguin, and Assistant Stage Manager Elsa K.
