Rumble Productions Announces the Departure of Artistic Producer Craig Hall

The Board of Directors of Rumble Productions announces the departure of Craig Hall, Artistic Producer, in January 2012. Craig has been with Rumble since 2006.

Craig is leaving to take on a new challenge as Artistic Director of Vertigo Theatre in Calgary, Alberta. He will move into his new position on July 1, 2012. Of his tenure at Rumble, he said, "I have had an incredible six years at Rumble and am very proud of the work we have done in that time. Our last few seasons have seen sold-out houses and visits to cities across Canada and into the United States. I leave behind an incredible staff, a to-die-for working environment at PL1422 and a brilliant group of collaborators, so I am sure that the organization will easily find a dynamic artist eager to take my place."

Since graduating from Studio 58 in 1997 Craig has become a major force in Vancouver's independent theatre scene, collaborating with a number of local companies including Theatre Melee, Green Thumb Theatre, Radix Theatre, Section 8 Productions, Pacific Theatre, Electric Company Theatre, Theatre Replacement and Pi Theatre. As Rumble's Artistic Producer Craig established TREMORS, Rumble's showcase for emerging Contemporary Theatre makers, and championed dozens of Vancouver's most promising young theatre companies. Craig also directed four critically acclaimed productions for Rumble and involved the company in Progress Lab (producers of the renowned HIVE events) and in the establishment of the PL1422 theatre creation hub.

Board President Janine Fuller said, "Over his six years at Rumble Craig has made a major contribution toward our unique vision and programming. He and the rest of the staff and Board have continued to carry Rumble forward with incredible programming and a remarkable capacity to create amazing works with many other artists, truly imagining the future of Rumble. He has had to make a difficult career choice but we are thrilled that his hard work and talent have been rewarded with this challenging new job as Artistic Director of Vertigo Theatre."

Rumble's General Manager Laura Efron added, ""While we are sad to see Craig go, we recognize that this is a great opportunity for him. I am confident that the Search Committee will find the person that Rumble needs as the organization enters this new phase."

Rumble will now form a search committee to begin the process of finding a new Artistic Producer. While his last major project for the company will be directing our fall main stage production of Greg MacArthur's Snowman (Nov 4-19, 2011), Craig will play an active role in the succession planning process to ensure a smooth transition for Rumble and his successor.
