Blue Yonder is the story of Andy Fromm a real person who was a cadet at the RAF air school in Beamsville Ontario, during WW 1. Andy was a Winnipeg boy, born and bred, but he had an itch to see the world so he signed up, along with several hundred other patriots who wanted to see the world and serve their country in this new branch of the service, which became the Canadian Air Force.
The story is in turns funny, strange and enchanting as Andy and his co-trainees wrestle with a lack of airplanes, primitive training methods and hostile natives, all set to music of the time, written especially for the Canadian War effort. The story illustrates the fact that people die in the service of country while still at home, are no less heroes than the boys and girls who served, 'Over There.'
