The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts announced the details of its exciting 2016-2017 Season last night.

The RHCPA follows up its record breaking 7th season with a lineup guaranteed to provide something for every taste. Filled with premieres and exclusive GTA appearances the 2016-2017 Season will further solidify the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts as the centre of culture in York Region.

"The 2016/2017 season celebrates the amazing talents of artists who proudly call Canada home," says Michael Grit, Theatre Manager for the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. "We are very blessed to live in a country that celebrates diversity, welcomes peoples from across the globe and is home to exceptional talent."


Our Town, Our Talent-Thursday October 13, 2016 at 8pm

The bright lights of Opening Night shine even brighter as we celebrate the incredible talent that Richmond Hill has to offer! Featuring, Jackie Richardson, Richmond Hill's own stage legend headlines the first performance of the 2016-2017 season. One of the country's foremost singers of blues, jazz and gospel music, Jackie brings her incredible energy and dynamic performance to Opening Night. Single tickets $47.

80's House Party-Friday October 14, 2016 at 8pm

Party like its 1983 when we celebrate the 80's, RHCPA style! Pull out your raddest outfit for a chance to win great prizes plus enjoy music from Canadian new wave synthpop band The Spoons, with songs such as Romantic Traffic, Nova Heart and Tell No Lies. Joining the Spoons, are The Kings and Trixie Goes Hollywood. Come early for the pre-show 80's party including righteous grindage and killer music. Single tickets $45.

Lightning Thief-Sunday October 16, 2016 at 11am & 2pm

Percy Jackson is about to be kicked out of boarding school...again. And that's the least of his troubles. Lately, mythological gods and monsters seem to be walking straight out of the pages of Percy's Greek mythology textbook and into his life. And worse, he's angered a few of them. Zeus's master lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the prime suspect. TheatreworksUSA brings the popular book series by Rick Riordan alive onstage in this brand new musical adaptation. Tokyo Police Club-Friday November 4, 2016 at 8pm

Tokyo Police Club has been busy and they don't seem to be stopping anytime soon. Since the release of the Newmarket natives' first single "Nature of the Experiment", they've continued to write indie hits, like "Hot Tonight," "Tunnel Vision" and "Your English is Good ". At the same they've been on several world tours and have appeared Late Night with David Letterman. See them live at the RHCPA and hear Tokyo Police Club like never before. Single tickets $45.

Peter Rabbit Tales-Wednesday November 9, 2016 at 6:30pm

"Once upon a time there were four little Rabbits, and their names were - Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail and Peter...." These famous opening words of The Tale of Peter Rabbit have enchanted young audiences for over 100 years. In celebration of Beatrix Potter's 150th birthday anniversary, Enchantment Theatre Company, brings her captivating stories to life. Using fantastic masks, whimsical puppets, gorgeous scenery and original music, the magical, marvelous world of Beatrix Potter comes to the stage. Single tickets $20.

Classic Albums Live: Last Waltz-Thursday November 10, 2016 at 8pm

Classic Albums Live pays tribute to one of the best live acts of the rock era and their farewell concert in 1975. The Band's Last Waltz was so integral to the rock landscape that Martin Scorsese filmed the concert and made it into what is considered one of the greatest concerts films of all time. With ballads like "Up on Cripple Creek", "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and "The Weight" the RHCPA will come alive with the music of this iconic American-Canadian band. Single tickets $45.

Zero Gravity Circus- Friday November 18, 2016 at 8pm

Toronto-based Zero Gravity Circus has been bringing together aerialists, contortionists, theatrical clowns, acrobats, fire-dancers, sword-swallowers, wire-walkers, high-divers, sideshow acts, jugglers, hula-hoop artists, magicians and mind readers to world audiences since 1996!Richmond Hill is the next stop as they take the RHCPA stage for one magical night. Wingfield's Inferno-Tuesday November 29, 2016 at 8pm

RHCPA is proud to present the sixth installment of the Wingfield cycle. A devastating fire at the Orange Hall in Larkspur leaves it a smouldering ruin. Walt Wingfield leads the charge to get it rebuilt, but lighting a fire under his fellow committee members proves a daunting task. Is it courage they lack, or is the devil in the details? Toopy and Binoo: Fun and Games-Wednesday November 29, 2016 at 3:30 and 6:30pm

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe-Saturday and Sunday December 3 & 4, 2016 at 11am and 2pm

This enchanting musical from Theatreworks USA is based on C.S. Lewis' adventure about four children who accidentally enter the land of Narnia by climbing through a magic wardrobe. Although they seem unlikely heroes, the four children undertake an adventure to fulfill and an ancient prophecy and save the land of Narnia from the evil witch. Single tickets $20.

A Leahy Family Christmas-Saturday December 3, 2016 at 8pm

For years the members of the Leahy family have played, danced and shared their music throughout the world, gaining critical acclaim and accolades for their musicality, talent and performance. Christmas Celebration-Monday December 19, 2016 at 8pm

The Richmond Hill community abounds with talent and that's never more apparent than with the members of the Richmond Hill Concert Band. Since its formation in 2010, they have been dedicated to performing works of high musical quality and to supply a specific outlet for community musical and cultural support. This is That-Wednesday January 25, 2017 at 8pm

CBC's highly successful news satire program, This is That, is going live at the RHCPA. A current affairs program that doesn't just talk about the issues, it fabricates them. Join hosts Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring as they introduce you to the voices and stories that give this country character in this 100% improvised, satirical send-up of public radio...live. Los Lobos-Friday February 3, 2017 at 8pm

Multiple Grammy Award-winning band Los Lobos brings their unique brand of music to the RHCPA stage for one night only. Influenced by rock and roll, Tex-Mex, country, folk, R&B, blues, brown-eyed soul, and traditional music such as cumbia, boleros and norteños, Los Lobos gained international stardom in 1987, when their cover version of Ritchie Valens's "La Bamba" topped the charts. Classic Albums Live: Wish You Were Here-Friday February 17, 2017 at 8pm

The ninth studio album by the English progressive rock group Pink Floyd will be faithfully reproduced on stage at the RHCPA. With poignant numbers like "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and songs of alienation such as, "Welcome to the Machine" and "Have a Cigar" put this album high up on Pink Floyd's "best of" list. Conclude the evening with a second act full of Pink Floyd favourites. Single tickets $45.

Whitehorse-Wednesday February 22, 2017 at 8pm

Classic Albums Live: Joshua Tree-Thursday March 9, 2017 at 8pm

Released in 1987, multi-Grammy award winning album, The Joshua Tree, is the fifth studio album by U2, receiving critical acclaim and topping the charts in over 20 countries. It produced the hit singles "With or Without You", "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", and "Where the Streets Have No Name" and has been recognized as the turning point, turning U2 into international superstars. Classic Albums Live: White Album-Thursday April 13, 2017 at 8pm

Classic Albums Live pays homage to The Beatles' ninth studio album, The Beatles but better known as the White Album. With such hits such as "Back in the U.S.S.R", "Blackbird", "Helter Skelter" and "Revolution" the White Album has been named one of the top 10 albums of all time and considered one of the best from this iconic band. Single tickets $45.

Seussical-Monday April 17, 2017 at 11 am & 2 pm

"Oh, the thinks you can think" when Dr. Seuss's best-loved stories collide and cavort in an unforgettable musical caper! The Honouring by Kaha:wi Dance Theatre-Wednesday April 26, 2017 at 8pm

Internationally renowned dance troupe, Kaha:wi Dance Theatre, takes a closer look at the complexity of the War of 1812 as seen through the experiential lens of the First Nations in The Honouring. Featuring Onkwehonwe families who sacrificed to protect their sovereignty, culture and land during the War of 1812, this unique and powerful theatrical event gives history a human face. Backstage Pass-Thursday April 27, 2017 at 8pm

Rock out to this once in a lifetime evening with Moe Berg (The Pursuit Of Happiness), Chris Murphy (SLOAN), Craig Northey (Odds) and Steven Page (ex-Bare Naked Ladies) as they come together to form Canada's own 'super-group' collective, Backstage Pass. Catapulted from the underground indie scene to acclaim, each of these iconic musicians have their own unique and hilarious stories to share along with great hits. They have known each other for 25 years and they are going to play each other's songs and yes they will rock. Single tickets $50.

Sharon and Bram-Tuesday May 2, 2017 at 6:30 pm

Since 1978, Sharon and Bram have defined high quality family entertainment, sharing their music with millions of delighted children. As members of the trio Sharon, Lois and Bram, they toured North America, producing countless albums and starring in two TV programs, The Elephant Show and Skinnamarink TV. A Sharon and Bram show is a one-hour sing-along concert for the entire family, featuring such well-loved favourites as She'll Be Coming Round the Mountain, Five Little Monkeys, One Elephant, and of course, Skinnamarink. Cecilia String Quartet-Wednesday May 3, 2017 at 8pm

Formed in 2004, the Cecilia String Quartet (CSQ) is the current Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Music. Hailed for their "powerful" (Chicago Sun-Times) and "dauntingly perfect" (Berliner Zeitung) performances, the CSQ perform for leading presenters in North America and Europe. Prize-winners at several international competitions, including Osaka (2008) and Bordeaux (2010), they were awarded First Prize at the 2010 Banff International String Quartet Competition (BISQC), where they also won the prize for the best performance of the commissioned work. Single tickets $40.
