David Galpern / Corey Ross / Starvox Entertainment present the premiere of National Lampoon's Full House The Musical! A Tanner Family Parody!. Starring larger than life celebrity personality Perez Hilton as Danny Tanner, the production is on stage at the Randolph Theatre (736 Bathurst St.) for a strictly limited engagement from August 18, to September 6. Full House The Musical will also be heading off-Broadway this fall.
Let's see what the critics had to say:
Carly Maga, Toronto Star: "... the producers of Full House! The Musical! - National Lampoon, David Galpern and Starvox Entertainment - already have all the marketing points they need. It's a musical parody based on a toothless '90s family sitcom, and also one that happens to be enjoying a moment of nostalgia-fuelled popularity (Lifetime just aired a behind-the-scenes TV movie, The Unauthorized Full House Story, and Netflix is filming a sequel starring most of the original cast called Fuller House)."
Jeff Cottrill, Digital Journal: Subtitled A Tanner Family Parody! and starring a guy who's better known for his catty celebrity gossip than for his acting skills, this National Lampoon version of Full House is more like a demolition site. It opened last night at Toronto's Randolph Theatre and is slated to play off-Broadway next month, but it's not even ready for Bob Saget's basement. Even many of the nostalgic Generation-Y kids and millennials who packed the Randolph didn't seem too impressed; let's just say that after intermission, it was no longer a full house.
