Peter Karrie represented the United Kingdom at the 33rd Annual Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo, the world's largest annual indoor show, in Halifax, NS, Canada this past week. The event celebrated Her Majesty The Queen's Diamond Jubilee, commemorated the bicentennial of the War of 1812 and paid tribute to the loss of the RMS Titanic and the role Halifax played in the disaster in 1912. Karrie was joined joined by fellow Canadian and soprano, Brenna Conrad. Known as the world's most popular Phantom, Karrie has performed the role over 2,700 times around the world in Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. See photos of Karrie performing below!
Not only did Karrie and Conrad perform a song from Phantom, but they also performed some Cole Porter music, a few sea shanties, and, "My Heart Will Go On" from the film Titanic. The week-long event included bagpipes, highland dancers, la culture de l’acadie and military traditions. Among the nearly 2,000 performers from seven countries are the Queen’s Colour Squadron of the Royal Air Force, the Paris Police Gymnastic Team and Club Piruett from Estonia, the European rhythmic gymnastic champions.
