Rock of Ages had its official opening night in Toronto on May 11th, and it really opened with a bang! Many people have said that Toronto needs to brace itself and get ready to rock - and the opening night festivities definitely rocked the city unlike anything I have ever seen before.
It was a who's who of the music world, with members of 80's rock bands such as Survivor, Night Ranger and Poison showing up to lend a hand at the opening night party. Tony Nominee and star of the Broadway Production of Rock of Ages Constantine Maroulis was also on hand, as well as many members of the creative team.
Curtain was early to allow for plenty of time to party afterwards, and everyone seemed to have a fantastic time. The red-carpet beforehand was alive and energetic despite bad weather and the mood inside of the Royal Alexandra Theatre was electric. The performances were incredible and the cast was on fire - and that energy continued well into the night. Jim Peterik from Survivor performed the classic "Eye of the Tiger" with help on the guitar from Night Ranger guitarist Joel Hoekstra. The two gave great performances and set the stage for the entire night.
Constantine Maroulis performed the classic Guns ‘N Roses hit Sweet Child of Mine with help from Peter Deiwick (Toronto's Stacee Jaxx) and Aaron Walpole gave a great rendition of ACDC's Highway to Hell. At the end of the night, the entire Toronto cast joined together for a rendition of Journey's Don't Stop Believing.
BWW was on hand to capture photos of the event and candid moments both before and after the show. Watch out Toronto - you are definitely about to be rocked!Photos by Kelly Cameron and Kelly FossWhen and Where?
