On June 6, 2014 SummerWorks Performance Festival hosts its official Launch Party & Fundraiser at Campbell House (160 Queen St W). The two part event begins with The SummerWorks Exclusive from 6:30 - 9:00 pm, where the festival lineup will be announced by artistic producer Michael Rubenfeld. Guests will enjoy a special performance from Patrick J. Adams ("Suits") where dinner will be provided and is accompanied by a live auction. Following The SummerWorks Exclusive the Launch Party is open to the public in a pay what you can dance party meets extended SummerWorks preview, dj'd by Grand Analog's Warren Bray. This event is SummerWorks' primary fundraising event and launches their festival season. The 2014 SummerWorks Performance Festival runs August 7-17, 2014.
Each year the SummerWorks Launch features special performances and live art installations. This year is no exception. Over 10 performers are converging on Toronto's historic Campbell House, giving guests a demonstration of why SummerWorks Performance Festival is a trendsetter and innovator in the Canadian theatre community. Those attending The SummerWorks Exclusive will enjoy access to several special performances, including the reading by Patrick J. Adams ("Suits") of an excerpt from a new play by Ukranian playwright Natalya Vorozhbit and a performance by Benjamin Kamino and Reg Vermue (Light Fires).
This year's SummerWorks Launch features a food market, including vendors such as Fidel Gastro and Cinq Foods. Those attending The SummerWorks Exclusive have the chance to win a private catered dinner by The Food Dudes (valued at $1,200), Mirvish theatre ticket packages and much more.
