Blyth Festival Artistic Director Eric Coates has announced major casting for the 2010 summer season. This year's Acting Company includes a number of past Blythe Festival actors, as well as new. The Blyth Festival summer season runs June 23 to September 4, 2010.
A KILLING SNOW by Paul Ciufo (Governor General Award Finalist for Reverend Jonah, 2007) directed by Kate Lynch opens the season, with the first preview performance slated for June 23. Gil Garratt (The Outdoor Donnellys, 2004; The Drawer Boy, 2002) returns to Blyth for his 12th consecutive season, along with Catherine Fitch (Blyth credits: Courting Johanna, 2008; The Nuttalls, 2009; Factory Theatre's Scratch; TV: Slings and Arrows, This is Wonderland) and Lisa Norton (Against the Grain, 2008; The Gingko Tree, 2005).
Garratt and Fitch will also appear in Gary Kirkham's Pearl Gidley, alongside Sam Malkin. Pearl Gidley will be directed by Miles Potter.
Other familiar faces returning this year include Michelle Fisk (Blyth credits: Reverend Jonah, 2007; Having Hope at Home, 2003; Grand Theatre, London: Pride & Prejudice, 2010; 10 Seasons at Stratford Shakespeare Festival), Marion Day (Blyth credits: Innocence Lost, 2008; Harvest, 2008; Stratford Shakespeare Festival: Ophelia in Hamlet and Lavinia in Titus Andronicus, 2000), and Brad Rudy (Mail Order Bride, 2009) who joins the Festival for his 2nd season after 22 seasons at Stratford. Fisk, Day and Rudy will appear in Bordertown Café, by Kelly Rebar, directed by Katherine Kaszas.
Day and Rudy will also appear in The Book of Esther by Leanna Brodie (Schoolhouse, 2006) with Blyth Festival Artistic Director Eric Coates, under the direction of Leah Cherniak.
