Karen Kain, Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, today announced that the company's annual fundraising gala MAD HOT BALLET: DISCO will take place on June 13, 2018 at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.
MAD HOT BALLET: DISCO promises to be "one of the top 10 hottest Canadian party tickets" (The Globe and Mail) and has raised over $11.8 million since 2007 in support of the artists and activities of the National Ballet. This year, the event is anticipated to raise over $1 million.
The evening will begin with an hour-long performance of short works performed by the artists of the National Ballet. Guests are then invited to a themed reception in the Isadore and Rosalie Sharp City Room. VIP guests will enjoy a private dinner onstage catered by Canadian celebrity chef Mark McEwan's North 44 Caters followed by a night of disco dancing with the National Ballet dancers.
"As gala co-chairs we're extremely proud to work with the National Ballet and its inspiring dancers to create an exciting celebration of dance. Our theme captures the energy and exuberance of an electrifying evening of dance, music and fashion at a discotheque," said Jen Lee Koss and Nicholas Mellamphy, this year's gala committee co-chairs.
