Randie Parliament, Artistic Producer of Ghost Light Projects, announced today that the company will produce two Canadian productions. MAMMA'S BOY, making its World Premiere, and LARGER THAN LIFE: THE MUSICAL, taking the stage for the first time in Toronto. Both shows will run in repertoire at The Factory Theatre Studio from May 21 to June 12, 2010.
MAMMA'S BOY by Randie Parliament is a twisted family drama about the difficulties of childhood and the fight to become a parent's favorite. Peter (Randie Parliament) has always felt the need to be protector in the house and naturally becomes a mamma's boy in the process, but who should be blamed for that? Briana Templeton plays the Joni Mitchell-enthused sister Janie, with Kris Skjellerup as Mamma and Sky Gilbert as Dad heading up the household.
LARGER THAN LIFE: THE MUSICAL, with book and lyrics by SG Lee and music by Vanessa LeBourdais, is funny, passionate, and full of insights into life, love, children, and low-fat muffins. This light-hearted musical looks at the lives of five very different women who are discovering how great it is to be "larger than life". This show features the songs "Fat Cow In A China Shop" and "These Ain't Your Mama's Tits". The stellar cast is made up of returning company members Renée Strasfeld and Allison Price, and new company members Louisa O'Keane, Kris Skjellerup, and Sarah Matte.
Dora-winner Sky Gilbert, joins the company and makes his return to acting in Mamma's Boy. Wes Berger directs both productions along with Gemini-winner Sarah Murphy-Dyson as associate director and Andrée-Ann Deschenes as musical director.
Previewing Friday, May 21, 2010, MAMMA'S BOY and LARGER THAN LIFE: THE MUSICAL open on May 22 and run until June 12 at The Factory Theatre - Studio, 125 Bathurst Street in Toronto.
